A final decision still hasn’t been made regarding who will play Whitney Houston in the high-profile biopic of the late performer’s life. Meagan Good recently disclosed she had been meeting with Houston about the part before her untimely death, but UK’s Daily Mail reveals singer Rihanna is also being considered.
Rihanna, who stars in the remake of Houston’s classic The Bodyguard, is rumored to be the favorite. However, the Daily Mail says singers Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks, Willow Smith and actress Vivica A. Fox are also being considered. Presumably, they would play Houston at different stages in her life.
Rumors are swirling that Clive Davis wants the biopic made as soon as possible and studios are scrambling to put together a script and team that could earn his endorsement.
Even if Rihanna gets chosen for the role, she may not sign on, as she previously expressed hesitation in signing on for The Bodyguard.
“I hate it when singers do singing movies all the time, because you can never look at them as anybody else. I want to play a character. My whole life is playing Rihanna; being a singer won’t be a stretch for me,” she told OK! Magazine at the time.
