UPDATE: The “Jerry Maguire” star Cuba Gooding JR turned himself into New Orleans Police, one day after disruption at The Old Absinthe Bar on Bourbon Street. Gooding faces battery charges for alledgely pushing a female bartender during a dispute at the Bourbon Street Bar on Tuesday around 3 a.m.
Actor Cuba Gooding JR met with New Orleans police officials Wednesday morning said police spokewoman Hillal Williams. “He was issued a summons for municipal battery. It now goes into the court system” Williams told AFP.
Gooding’s court date has not been posted on the county’s online docket.
Academy Award winning actor and “Red Tails” star Cuba Gooding JR is wanted by New Orleans police following a bar brawl Tuesday at The Old Absinthe Bar on Bourbon Street.
Gooding is in New Orleans filming the movie “Butler“, according to police he went out for drinks with friends at a bar and became “very aggravated” when fans attempted to snap photos of him. A bartender told Gooding to calm down and he alledgely shoved her with his open hand. Another co-worker called 911 and the bartender informed Gooding that police were on the way and he should leave. In the police report, the bartender said Gooding shoved her again and then left the bar.
A misdeamnor battery warrant has been issued for Cuba Gooding JR by the New Orleans Police Department. Officers have been given orders to arrest the actor if seen at any time.
