The first installment of the “Battle Of The Bay” takes place on Saturday night at Joe Echols Arena as Norfolk State University entertains their arch-rivals, the Pirates of Hampton University. The Spartans have won five in a row and are undefeated in the MEAC coming off a huge win over Morgan State earlier in the week. HU has lost two straight, but when these two get together, ANYTHING can happen!
Thursday night at UR’s Robins Center, the VCU Rams brought the #19 ranking and a 13-game winning streak to the West End for their first official Atlantic-10 game with their cross-town rivals, the Uiversity of Richmond, The Spiders were no stranger to big games against ranked opponents and have a list full of past upsets to prove it. You can mow add the Rams to that long list as UR pulled off another one with an 82 – 74 victory. The Spiders now hit the road for a date at UMass on Sunday, while VCU will host LaSalle University on Saturday evening at the Siegal Center.
In the CIAA, the Trojans of Virginia State defeated Chowan University 73 – 65 on Wednesday night, while the Panthers of Virginia Union picked up a rare road win this season at Bowie State University. This weekend, the Trojans hit the road for a date with the Vikings of Elizabeth City State on Saturday, while Virginia Union plays at home in a clash with Lincoln University of Pennsylvania.
