The 2013 NCAA Tournament is down to the Final Four. April Madness? And despite our disappointment that VCU isn’t in it this year, we realize it’s been a long and winding road, with Louisville being the only No. 1 seed to survive. The Cardinals will meet the team that is no longer “shocking” anybody, the Shockers of Wichita State, who have pulled off upset after upset until now were not even sure if they were upsets. Maybe the Shockers are just that darn good. One thing is certain, they won’t go away easily. Tip time is 6:09pm Saturday. Louisville prevailed despite the loss of Kevin Ware, whose horrific injury devastated the crowd on Sunday evening, but it is uncertain as to how his loss will affect the team coming up.
In the other semi-final game on Saturday, Syracuse, with long time coach Jim Boeheim, will take on perhaps the hottest team in field with dominant wins over VCU, Kansas, and Florida, the Michigan Wolverines. Once a major player and perennial tournament team in the past, former University of Richmond coach John Beilein has rebranded the Michigan program and made the Wolverines a force to be reckoned with. It also doesn’t hurt to have Wooden Award winner and National Player of the Year Tre Burke running the show. While Rick Pitino’s Cardinals are expected to win it all, either of these teams are capable of taking home the national championship this weekend. Enjoy!
