Today is the 30th anniversary of the annual National Night Out where citizens and law enforcement will have a chance to get better acquainted with each other.
The event is intended to bring communities together with a common goal and purpose, striving to strengthen police and community partnerships, build a sense of community and heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
The events are spread throughout the city of Richmond, Hopewell, Henrico and Chesterfield, but Church Hill is hoping that this National Night Out event at 25th and Fairmount will kick off with an arrest in an ongoing murder case. It starts at 5 p.m. and will last until 8 p.m. There will be games, food, and fun for everyone.
